How does AI flashcard generation work?
DeckIQ uses OpenAI's API to generate flashcards from your chosen topic. Just enter a subject, select how many cards you want, and the AI creates real practice questions matched to the difficulty level of your test or grade. You can also paste your notes or upload a photo of your study materials.
Is my data stored on your servers?
No. All your decks, study progress, and results are stored locally on your device using on-device storage. We do not have a server that stores your personal data. The only time data leaves your device is when you generate flashcards — the topic or text you enter is sent to OpenAI's API for processing, and the generated cards are returned to your device.
What tests and grade levels are covered?
DeckIQ covers Elementary (K-5), Middle School (6-8), High School (9-12), standardized tests (SAT, ACT, GED, CLT, AP, PSAT), and graduate/professional exams (MCAT, LSAT, GRE, GMAT, DAT, NCLEX, Bar Exam, CPA). Each includes subject-specific breakdowns.
Can I create flashcards without AI?
Yes! DeckIQ has a Manual mode where you can create your own cards one by one. You can also paste text from your notes and let the AI extract key concepts, or take a photo of your study materials.
Is DeckIQ free?
Yes, DeckIQ is free to download and use.
The app isn't generating cards. What's wrong?
Make sure you have an active internet connection — AI generation requires connecting to the API. If the issue persists, try restarting the app. If you're still having trouble, please email us with details about what you were trying to generate.
Can I use DeckIQ offline?
You can study all your existing decks offline. However, generating new flashcards with AI requires an internet connection since the AI processing happens in the cloud.

DeckIQ ("we", "our", or "the app") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your information when you use the DeckIQ mobile application.
Information We Collect
Information you provide: When you use DeckIQ, you may enter topics, paste notes, or upload photos of study materials to generate flashcards. This content is processed by OpenAI's API to create your flashcards.
Locally stored data: Your flashcard decks, study progress, mastery tracking, and study session history are stored locally on your device. This data never leaves your device and is not transmitted to us or any third party.
We do not collect:
- Personal identification information (name, email, phone number)
- Location data
- Device identifiers or advertising IDs
- Usage analytics or tracking data
- Financial or payment information
How We Use Your Information
The only time data leaves your device is when you use AI-powered features:
- AI Flashcard Generation: When you generate cards from a topic, the topic text and description are sent to OpenAI's API.
- Paste Notes: When you paste text, that text is sent to OpenAI's API for processing.
- Photo Upload: When you upload or photograph study materials, the image data is sent to OpenAI's API for text recognition and card generation.
This data is sent solely for the purpose of generating flashcards and is subject to OpenAI's Privacy Policy and Terms of Use.
Data Storage & Security
All study data (decks, cards, progress, sessions) is stored locally on your device using standard iOS storage. We do not operate servers that store your data. If you delete the app, all locally stored data will be permanently removed.
Third-Party Services
DeckIQ uses the following third-party service:
- OpenAI API: Used to process text and images for AI-powered flashcard generation. Data sent to OpenAI is governed by their privacy policy.
We do not use any analytics services, advertising networks, or other third-party trackers.
Children's Privacy
DeckIQ is designed to be used by students of all ages, including children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Since all data is stored locally and we do not require account creation, there is no mechanism for us to collect or store personal data from any user, including children.
No Account Required
DeckIQ does not require you to create an account, sign in, or provide any personal information to use the app.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected on this page with an updated effective date. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
